Job Overview:


ASEC is currently searching for a Communications Engineer, Journeyman to support a Program Office on NAS Pax River. This position will provide support to the E-6B and other platforms and IPT lead engineers in support of development, acquisition, modernization, and sustainment efforts across the PMA. The candidate will support requirements generation, performing engineering design trade studies, drafting engineering documentation and artifacts, and assisting in the development of mission systems architecture solutions.   


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, from a school of engineering having a curriculum which was accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is required. 
  • Three (3) years of related systems engineering experience. 
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with NAVAIR. 

Required Clearance: This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Requires an ACTIVE TOP SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products to include Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Experience utilizing software tools for engineering is desired. 
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technology. 
  • Ability to work on projects with limited supervision. 
  • Experience working with Pre-MS B and EMD efforts. 
  • Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering Tools. 


  • Participate in the research and down select of HF, UHF, and IP Line-of-Sight systems in support of the platform acquisition and future E-6B capability. 
  • Develop cosite mitigation strategies, to include simultaneous operations (SIMOP) strategies for a number of comms bands. 
  • Support the platform Very Low Frequency (VLF) non-recurring engineering (NRE) effort 
  • Review and/or development of requirements definition, analysis, verification, and architecture design. 
  • Reviewing and monitoring development of relevant engineering documentation and artifacts. 
  • Participating or assisting in relevant Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events and PMRs. 
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies to translate Customer requirements into solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule cost and exportability constraints. 
  • Presenting necessary information to stakeholders within the NAVAIR program office environment. 

Other Requirements: 

  • Requires occasional travel. 25% but up to 40% of the time. 
  • Requires flexibility in work hours.
  • In-person presence in the PMA due to the classified nature of the work.
