NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is looking for an onsite Commodity Manager to join our Supply Chain team. The Commodity Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing, procurement, and replenishment strategy of their assigned commodities. Recommending supply partners, sourcing policies, quoting, inventory strategies, cost control and forecasting.
Location: onsite in Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $88,000 - 110,000 per hour (Exempt)
(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)
Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Friday Business Hours
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A
As a Commodity Manager, you will:
- Procure Material from Suppliers for a Multi-site Operation
- Implement & Manage Sourcing Strategies that support the needs of the business
- Build, Develop, and Manage Win-Win Supply Agreements
- Implement Replenishment Strategies that Balance Internal Customer Service Levels, Material Turns, and Cost
- Mitigate Supply and Cost Risks for Made & Melted in the US Supply Chain
- Analyze costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditures
- Accountable for the Make / Buy decision for new and existing items
- Collaborative and effective communication between stakeholders
- Support production and scheduling teams by ensuring materials are available to align with scheduling
- Negotiate pricing and control costs
- Improve Supplier Quality
Role Qualifications as a Commodity Manager:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or Related Technical field
- Previous steel, metal fabrication, or steel service center experience preferred
- Extensive previous experience in ERP/MRP systems, with a preference to Epicor
- Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Previous work experience in purchasing in a manufacturing setting
- Capacity to effectively and professionally adapt to changing work priorities
- Analytical skills - must be able to synthesize market and pricing information to draw insights and actionable recommendations (e.g. structure the problem, collect data, identify issues and present results
- Knowledge of accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research and analysis.
- Use effective and appropriate written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and influencing skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative approach in team and individual settings
Work Environment (Office Roles):
