Commissioning Manager – Contract Position – Data Center / Mission-Critical Project

Location: Texas

Pay: $65–$120 per hour, depending on experience

Per Diem: $65–$120 per day, subject to eligibility

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Minimum 6 months

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a major data center or mission-critical construction project in Texas. This is a contract opportunity suited to a commissioning professional with strong experience planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities for complex mechanical, electrical, controls, and building systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with construction teams, MEP contractors, vendors, client representatives, operations teams, and third-party commissioning agents to support testing, verification, systems readiness, and successful turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, controls, fire protection, and related building systems.

• Develop, review, and manage commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, checklists, test scripts, and documentation.

• Coordinate with Project Managers, MEP Managers, Superintendents, trade contractors, vendors, operations teams, and commissioning agents.

• Support equipment startup, pre-functional testing, functional performance testing, integrated systems testing, and issue resolution.

• Track commissioning progress, deficiencies, punch items, system readiness, and turnover requirements.

• Review drawings, specifications, O&M manuals, submittals, equipment data, and commissioning documentation.

• Ensure systems are commissioned in line with client standards, project specifications, safety requirements, and reliability expectations.

• Facilitate commissioning meetings, readiness reviews, test planning sessions, and issue-resolution discussions.

• Support handover, closeout, training, final documentation, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead, Cx Manager, Startup Manager, or Systems Completion Manager.

• Strong experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial projects, healthcare, energy, or complex MEP systems.

• Strong understanding of electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, mechanical systems, HVAC, controls, BAS/BMS, and integrated systems testing.

• Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, commissioning plans, and technical documentation.

• Experience coordinating vendors, trade contractors, construction teams, and client operations teams.

• Familiarity with commissioning software, Procore, Bluebeam, BIM tools, or tracking systems is advantageous.

• Strong communication, leadership, coordination, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work on-site in Texas for the duration of the contract.
