This role supports commercial sales growth by partnering with the commercial sales team in the design, estimating, and documentation processes that are part of a prospect/customer opportunity. You will collaborate with commercial sales representatives on opportunities that meet specified criteria and on opportunities as assigned to you.
The position includes communication with the commercial sales representatives to understand the objectives of the prospect/client and to develop solutions aimed at meeting these objectives.
The Commercial System Design Specialist is responsible for the design and estimating of these projects including commercial intrusion, video surveillance, access control, and fire systems. In addition, the Commercial System Design Specialist should have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and have experience working with client IT teams. Preparation of supporting documents (e.g., Drawings, etc.) is likewise expected where needed.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Work with the commercial sales representatives on prospective customer opportunities, as assigned by the Manager of System Design Specialists.
Proactively scope the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customer needs, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and Vector Security. Utilize proper resources to include AutoCAD, Project Management, etc. to meet requirements
Work collaboratively with Sales, Operations, and other System Design team members to align with customers’ business requirements.
Prepare equipment and labor estimates and provides this information to the commercial sales representative for their preparation of a proposal/presentation.
Provide role of educating the commercial sales representatives aimed at enhancing their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills.
Opportunistically pursues additional business development opportunities within customer accounts. Collaborates with sales to ensure that these opportunities are effectively advanced.
Participate along with the commercial sales representative in client presentations, when required.
Coordinate calls with commercial sales representatives and customer/prospects when needed for project information gathering and scope of work clarification.
Work with internal departments, to ensure responses can be technically supported by all departments.
Prepare equipment and labor pricing estimates utilizing approved Vector Security pricing tools.
Prepare sales supporting documentation that is utilized in the sales presentation process.
