Summary 

The Commercial Sales Associate is the point of contact and representative for all commercial and contractual matters relating to the project internally and externally during the sales phase. He/she ensures the proper implementation of all commercial aspects of the project (from beginning sales proposal and quoting phases through project handover to execution, with continued support of the execution team through completion of the project as required), maintains a commercial overview of the project, ensures a successful outcome of commercial negotiations, and coordinates critical subject matter of the contract with the functional departments (legal, accounting, tax etc.) and the Project Manager Sales.

What you'll do 

  • Direct and coordinate commercial activities throughout the project sales phase, including the implementation of all commercial issues/tasks leading up to the project execution, with regard to customer evaluation, project selection, project structure, costing, bid preparation, financing, and contract negotiation.
  • Ensuring consistent risk prevention in all commercial as well as inter-disciplinary matters during the bid phase until the signing of the contract.
  • Managing relationships with customers, local companies, representatives and partners.
  • Implementing all activities in connection with the legal and commercial framework conditions.
  • Coordinating, harmonizing the technical and commercial subject matter of the contract.
  • Commercial pricing requirements in consultation with all relevant departments.
  • Provides insight into the final bid cost estimate.
  • Ensures complete and comprehensive communication on all commercial and legal matters in the project.
  • Participates in the price strategy and price sheet in cooperation with the Project Manager Sales and Project Owner Sales. 
  • Ensuring compliance with the SMS group Sales Handbook and the associated Quality Gates during the Sales Phase through Order Handover.
  • Ensuring compliance with project management standards and all requirements of the applicable Project Management Guidelines of the SMS group
  • Commercial responsibilities for:
    • Participation in the proposal phase of a project – (i.e. reviewing the price, cost calculation, & tax implications)
    • Review and negotiation of project terms and conditions with both Customers and Vendors in accordance with SMS group standards and policies
    • Risk and opportunity analysis
    • Initiation and completion of Non-Disclosure Agreements
    • Completion of all commercial and financial related matters
    • Ensuring the accuracy of cost and pricing estimations
    • Performing requirements for month end reporting activities
    • Support strategic initiatives for Central Sales
    • Support the Project Handover Process
    • Support and maintain SAP Customer Relationship Management

What you’ll need 

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a role dealing with contract administration, as either a Commercial Project Manager, Contract Manager, Contract Administrator/Specialist or closely related position is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business field is preferred
  • Thorough understanding of contract language and the ability to negotiate, interpret, and carry out contract terms is required.
  • Knowledge of project controlling, accounting, finance and contract management is required.
  • Strong financial analysis ability and experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, is required.
  • Experience in international business is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate and exercise effective interpersonal skills is necessary.
  • Proficiency with German or Spanish/Portuguese preferred
