Parsons is adding a Structures Group Leader / Project Manager to lead transportation/structures work in the metropolitan Denver, CO region as part of our Mountains/Desert Area, comprised of people who support projects in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. We have multiple contracts with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), City and County of Denver, and Denver International Airport (DEN), to name a few. Our new Structures Group Leader / Project Manager will lead structures and transportation projects for CDOT, the City and County of Denver, DEN, and other transportation clients across our Mountains/Desert Area. In this role, you will be responsible for scope, schedule, budget, as well as business development activities for small to large projects. Our project managers generally oversee project teams ranging in size from 4 to more than 20 professionals, and projects with construction values ranging from $5M - $100M.


  • Manage, oversee, and lead the design engineering practice to support various Colorado and regional transportation agencies. Ensure the highest quality engineering is put forth to meet all design requirements.
  • Develop project scope, schedule, and budget adherence from design through construction.
  • Provide mentoring for staff development and promote a collaborative culture within the team. Coordinate with State and Area managers and other senior leaders to develop short- and long-term vision, goals, and strategy that will grow our business while empowering and motivating our staff.
  • Support the transportation management team with workload forecasting and developing staffing plans. Participate in staffing discussions at monthly management team meetings and facilitate workshare to ensure projects are staffed appropriately and employees are utilized. Perform performance reviews and assist with development plans for direct reports. Identify employees for recognition and nominate employees for various company programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and future clients. Collaborate with the business development team to lead or support project development activities. Take leadership roles in professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Area Business Development Manager to lead a variety of business development activities within Colorado. Establish and maintain client contacts and strengthen current business relationships. Keep abreast of overall business trends, particularly the current business climate within Colorado. Typical responsibilities include managing important client accounts and larger, more complex proposal/project activities.
  • Develop proposals for services in response to invitations to bid and provide guidance to proposal teams from inception to completion.


  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis and 12 years or more of related engineering design management experience with road/highway/interchange projects. MS in Structural Engineering is desirable.
  • Experience on CDOT projects and Colorado PE is required.
  • Candidate should have a broad general technical and business background, as well as previous project management experience on similar or related projects.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, interface with clients, and enjoy being hands-on technically in a project. References required.

Skills/ Competencies:

Candidate must meet Parsons’ project management certification requirements. Proven ability to perform in a management capacity (including project performance management and metrics, i.e. budget schedule, revenue forecasts), excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required. In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it is effectively utilized in our business.

This position pays a minimum annual salary of $130,100.00 and a maximum annual salary of $234,200.00.
