We have an opening for a Cold Press Operator second shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm with some overtime and some Saturdays.

Job Description:

Responsible for utilizing tooling, equipment and materials for cold pressing of powdered metal diamond segments. This position is critical for production of diamond segments to be used in blade and bit manufacturing. Ability to lift, push/pull and stand for long periods of time.

Job Requirements:

Preparation of cold press tooling by measurement of height and parallelism. Assembly of die parts in the cold press machine. Removal and inspection of cold press dies from the machine. Follow company policies to ensure compliance of EPA and environmental regulations in the cold pressing process. Follow company policies to ensure compliance of OSHA Safety and Health Regulations in the cold pressing process.

Machinery:

Organization and selection of proper tooling to fulfill work requirements. Maintain general knowledge and familiarity with manufacturing equipment operation. Cleaning of equipment for preparation of subsequent orders. Setup and adjustment of cold press machines parameters.

Measurements:

Perform in-process quality checks on segments that include micrometer measurement of height, length and thickness. Segment weight will be measured with a precision electronic balance. Record quality and order completion data. Evaluate and confer with Quality Control on manufacturing process inspection techniques and standards.

Experience:

Previous experience preferred. Strong basic math skills required.

Functional Skills and Knowledge:

Working knowledge of basic industrial math, metric system of weights and measurement; diamond tool design elements; using micrometer for measurements; and knowledge of precision balance for weight measurement.
