Job Description

Role: Production Manager

*THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION*

Job Summary: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will lead Coating Line production operations at the Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, SC. This role is responsible for overseeing shift supervisors ensuring safe and efficient operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining process control, and delivering results aligned with plant business objectives. The position plays a key leadership role in advancing operational excellence, process discipline, and team development.

Job Responsibilities

During the equipment procurement and installation phase of the coating line:

  • Develop site-specific safety, environmental, and training procedures in collaboration with HSE, including LOTO, Confined Space, and JHA requirements.
  • Establish production standards, including 5S, Leader Standard Work, SOPs, work instructions, job descriptions, training materials, and operator checklists.
  • Develop quality testing procedures for raw materials and finished products in partnership with Corporate Quality.
  • Support hiring and selection activities for production positions and contribute to personnel development and training.
  • Partner with the equipment build team to align operational documentation with equipment manufacturer recommendations and support overall greenfield plant start-up activities, including safety, maintenance, material procurement, and vendor relationships.

After Commissioning

  • Lead all Coating Line shift operations, including oversight of the Process Engineer, Shift Supervisors, and up to 40 hourly Process Associates.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing IKO safety policies, environmental standards, housekeeping, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ensure product quality meets customer expectations while maintaining controlled, capable, and compliant production processes.
  • Develop and maintain a trained, motivated, and engaged workforce through effective leadership, communication, teamwork, and employee development.
  • Drive productivity, OEE, cost-effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with other departments to achieve overall plant goals.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in an Engineering field preferred or equivalent production leadership experience.
  • 12-15 years of leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience, knowledge or trained in Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, JDE, Maximo or equivalent ERP and management systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to grow and mentor talent
  • Possesses strong process and financial acumen
  • Ability to effectively motivate and bring together a new team with everyone focused on Operational Excellence.
  • Greenfield or Brownfield start-up experience preferred.
