Role: Production Manager
Job Summary: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will lead Coating Line production operations at the Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, SC. This role is responsible for overseeing shift supervisors ensuring safe and efficient operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining process control, and delivering results aligned with plant business objectives. The position plays a key leadership role in advancing operational excellence, process discipline, and team development.

Job Responsibilities
Below is a compilation of responsibilities and job assignments associated with this position during the equipment procurement and installation phase of the coating line:
Collaborate with the HSE manager to formulate site-specific safety and environmental procedures, along with training documents, such as LOTO, Confined Space, JHA’s, etc. specific to the coating line.
Establish 5S Standards for each production area.
Develop Leader Standard Work for all leadership roles within production.
Create all operator standard operating procedures, covering the process from raw material unloading to the wrapping of the final product.
Generate comprehensive work instructions for each role.
Establish all production job descriptions.
Produce all training documentation pertinent to production roles.
Design operator checklists that facilitate daily tasks (work instructions).
Formulate all quality testing procedures in conjunction with Corporate Quality for both raw materials and finished product.
Participate in the hiring and selection team responsible for filling all vacant positions.
Contribute to the build team by linking operational documentation to the specific recommendations of machine manufacturers, including equipment operation guidelines, etc.

Production Manager will be expected to assist with all other areas including safety, machine maintenance, material procurement and vendor relationships, and personnel development.
Operations Job Responsibilities (After Commissioning):
A vital member of the plant leadership team who reports directly to the Plant Manager, the Coating Line Production Manager, will be directly accountable for all shift operations as well as the Coating Line Process Engineer, Line Shift Supervisors, and up to 40 hourly Process associates operating the coating line. Responsibilities also include:
Ensures a safe working environment by strictly following IKO’s safety policies and procedures, while promoting ongoing improvements in safety and housekeeping.

Provides the necessary leadership to guarantee that product quality meets customer expectations for all products dispatched from the plant.
Ensures a trained and motivated workforce that can execute the plant’s business strategy.
Responsible for maintaining controlled and capable processes with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and environmental compliance.
Efficiently utilizes plant personnel and equipment to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness in achieving the plant’s business objectives (JE, OEE, CSF produced, etc.)
Collaborate with other departments to actively pursue manufacturing improvement initiatives while fostering a One Plant partnership with other departments and colleagues to achieve shared goals.
Qualifications
4-year degree in an Engineering field preferred or equivalent production leadership experience.
12-15 years of leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
Experience, knowledge or trained in Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, JDE, Maximo or equivalent ERP and management systems.
Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
Ability to grow and mentor talent
Possesses strong process and financial acumen
Ability to effectively motivate and bring together a new team with everyone focused on Operational Excellence.
Greenfield or Brownfield start-up experience preferred.
