Position Overview

three14 group is partnering with an established industrial equipment manufacturer in the Stow, Ohio area to identify a skilled CNC Waterjet Operator to join its manufacturing team.

This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining an OMAX abrasive waterjet cutting system to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC cutting equipment, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.

Candidates with experience operating CNC waterjet, laser, or plasma cutting equipment are encouraged to apply. Direct OMAX experience is highly preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate OMAX CNC abrasive waterjet equipment to cut metal components to specified dimensions and tolerances.

• Load and select CNC cutting programs, establish machine origins, and adjust cutting parameters based on material type and thickness.

• Utilize OMAX Layout/Make software or similar CNC programming interfaces.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and cutting specifications.

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares, and other precision measuring instruments.

• Operate horizontal and vertical band saws to cut raw materials to specified lengths.

• Monitor machine performance, abrasive flow, cutting quality, and equipment condition.

• Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.

• Load, unload, and position raw materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists when qualified.

• Record production quantities, labor hours, material usage, and scrap through an ERP or shop-floor management system.

• Identify quality concerns, troubleshoot cutting issues, and communicate equipment or production problems to leadership.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and tolerances.

• Experience working with industrial machinery or CNC cutting equipment.

• Familiarity with precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.

• Basic shop math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions.

• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with production and quality teams.

• Basic computer proficiency and ability to document production activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience operating CNC waterjet, laser, or plasma cutting equipment.

• Hands-on experience with OMAX waterjet systems and OMAX Layout/Make software.

• Experience operating horizontal or vertical band saws.

• Understanding of CNC machine setup, cutting parameters, material nesting, and material utilization.

• Experience working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other industrial metals.

• Familiarity with basic GD&T and precision manufacturing practices.

• Previous experience using ERP or manufacturing production tracking systems.

• Forklift or overhead crane experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.

• Comfortable working around industrial machinery, cutting equipment, and heavy materials.

• Ability to safely handle materials and use required personal protective equipment.
