Description
CanFab Management LLC who is a VMC Group Company is seeking a CNC Turret Punch Laser Operator. This position will support the production team including new product introduction, plan layout, perform operations on sheet metal products and operate machinery to meet business demands. This position is responsible to produce a variety of parts to meet dimensional specifications of mechanical engineered drawings. We’re looking for a long-term candidate who is eager to learn and take on new challenges.
Essential Functions not limited to:
- Familiar with Turret operations and EMLK Laser Punch Combo
- Experienced at reading and understanding part drawings and job travelers
- Set up and operate CNC Turret producing both standard and custom parts per furnished work order
- Load and install correct tooling for tasks
- Complete the programing to nest parts on the sheet reducing material waste
- Make routine decisions to resolve basic manufacturing issues
- Suggest improvements for Turret programs and Trouble shooting
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Understanding of Amada Laser alarm codes
- Work directly with Amada maintenance department to resolve equipment issues
- Ability to use handheld measuring tools including a tape measure, hammer, grinder and calipers
- Accurate and efficient set-up of machines in accordance with proper set-up techniques
- Properly operate machine to run efficiently, including preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning machine and clearing scrap chips in order to produce quality products and maximize machine utilization
- Perform daily housekeeping to ensure the work area is always clean and organized
- Able to squat, crawl, or lay prone for short periods to facilitate maintenance or repair of machine
- Other duties and responsibilities as required
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration and contact with metals and lubricants. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud.
Physical Demands not limited to
The position involves standing, walking and lifting and moving up to 50 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day. Infrequently required to lay, sit or crawl.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime, Fridays and Saturdays may be required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of manufacturing experience with CNC machine operation
- Metalworking fabrication experience
- CAD knowledge a plus
- Basic computer knowledge (copy/paste, navigate folders, tabs and windows)
- Math - understands decimals
- Experience with gauging sheet metal thickness
- Able to work overtime when necessary
- Experience with CNC controls and machines preferred
- Experience working with Amada Turret equipment preferred
- Forklift experience a plus (in house training available)
- Proficient at reading English and Bilingual is a plus
