JOB SUMMARY:   
Under the direct supervision of the Tool Crib Group Leader, the CNC Tool and Cutter Grinder works as part of a team in the Tool Crib Department preparing and maintaining cutters and tooling used in the CNC machining process.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Program, setup and operate a CNC Cutter Grinder (ANCA FX3 Linear Tool Sharpener). 
  • Operate manual cutter grinders. 
  • Setup and preparation of the Tool Crib.  
  • Inspect tools, both visually and manually.
  • Ensure tools are properly sorted and stored, allowing for accessibility when needed. 
  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Precise Quality Management System and AS9100.

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible. 
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated.  
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently. 
  • Knowledge of cutting tools (Endmills, Drills, Reamers, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Mechanical or manufacturing background or experience.
  • Sound knowledge of grinding wheels and grinding practices.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge and skills to be able to use computers.
  • Must have strong attention to detail. 


 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cutting tool manufacturing - CNC and manual

According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $23.00 - $37.00 / hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
