CNC & Tool and Die Maintenance Technician
Evapco is hiring 2nd Shift CNC & Tool and Die Maintenance Technicians to help support our growing business. These positions have the primary job function of ensuring the maintenance, setup, and preventative care of CNC machinery and precision equipment, including but not limited to tube mills, fin presses, form rolling machines, benders, and embossing mills. Uptime and reliability are the two main goals of day-to-day activities. Troubleshooting mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. Maintaining, repairing, and installing various metal manufacturing fabrication machines and machine centers, including but not limited to CNC, shears, presses, punches, welding power supplies, lasers, tube mills, spinners, etc.…
Major areas of responsibility
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Advanced troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic failures
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examines form and texture of parts.
- Communicate and over-communicate all issues, ideas, and improvements to all team members.
- Execute and comply with all safety standards required by Evapco
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing work orders following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
- Knowledge of OEM machine controllers; Perform mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines;
- Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws;
- Support with scheduling PM, reading reports, diagrams, and drawings;
- Working knowledge of tool Probing function for CNC Mill Machines;
- Able to work with complex NC machines up to & including 4 Axis;
- Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines;
- Identify and replace parts as necessary;
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls;
- Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues;
- General facilities maintenance;
- Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work;
- Work based on a sense of urgency with machine-down conditions;
- In conjunction with the production team, will support continuous improvement of the development of PM instructions and schedules to prevent failures;
- Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Participate in 6S activities when necessary.
- Take part in capital equipment project launches both mechanically and procedurally.
- Act as both trainer and trainee on a multitude of machines depending on proficiency
- Document completed work via work order notes, drawings, bill of material updates, or other pertinent job information.
- Report near misses and recordable accidents within the team and assist with accident investigations when called upon
- Periodically adjust working hours depending on workload
- May perform other duties as assigned, including hands-on direct labor when necessary
- Maintain positive and professional behavior daily
- Installed, troubleshot, repaired, and maintained machine tool equipment and controls.
- Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, as well as electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
- Identify and replace parts as necessary.
- Complete testing and make adjustments of parts as needed.
- Complete planned and preventative procedures.
- Maintain, inspect, and repair all production machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
- Must train any less experienced maintenance personnel.
- Identify process bottlenecks and recommend solutions.
- Participate in team and shop business problem-solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements.
- Meet or exceed annual safety, quality, 6-S, and productivity success targets.
- Attend related training courses as scheduled.
- Perform plumbing, welding, electrical, and construction-type projects.
- Performs scheduled PMs on a regular basis on production machinery, vehicles, forklifts, etc.
- Be involved in mechanical diagnostic type work until the issue is found, and then document it in SharePoint.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area, parts supply, and toolbox at all times.
- Follow all related written and oral work instructions.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience in performing maintenance of CNC machines & Tool and Die machinery.
- Must be able to think through problems and stay with them until they are resolved
- Must be a self-starter, motivated, and able to work alone or with other teammates
- Demonstrate superior service skill(s) and professionalism in day-to-day dealings with coworkers, setting a good example in attendance and work ethic.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examines form and texture of parts.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Ensures adherence to company policies and work rules, as well as ensuring a safe work environment is maintained
- Must have and maintain excellent work attendance

- Advanced understanding of industrial electrical (120/277/480 volts), mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic theory
- Must have fabrication skills, know how to weld, grind, plasma cut, run a torch, etc., and be able to read drawing packets, including electrical schematics.
- Understand and properly use various measuring devices such as micrometers, dial calipers, electrical multi-meters, vibration meters, sound meters, pressure meters, etc.
- Willingness to learn
- Basic welding experience is preferred
- Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure to within 1/32”, is required
- Basic shop math (i.e., add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
- Familiar with common hand and power tools
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), is preferred
High School diploma or GED equivalent, vocational school required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Manufacturing, office, and outdoor environments
- Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday.
- May be required to work above ground at heights up to 40 ft.
- Lifting of 50 lbs. or less
- Must wear PPE when required.
- Work hours are set to our standard times, but we are required to work overtime as needed until critical equipment is up and running again and some Saturdays and Sundays
- We require good mechanical-hand coordination and cognitive abilities.
We offer competitive compensation based on experience. The pay range is $27.38-$34.59 per hour.
