Position Overview:
The CNC Equipment Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining all machinery to ensure it meets optimal working standards. This role involves managing outside vendors for maintenance work, documenting progress reports and maintenance logs in the MaintainX system, and overseeing equipment stock, including placing orders for new supplies when necessary.
Primary Duties
• To the best of ability, Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment to identify malfunctions, perform root-cause failure analysis (RCFA), and implement corrective actions in a timely manner. When necessary, schedule outside technician to complete work.
•To the best of ability install, adjust, repair, or replace equipment components following diagrams, schematics, and layout plans using hand and power tools. When necessary, schedule outside technician to complete work.
• Regularly inspect equipment to verify proper operation of equipment safety devices after repairs, modifications, and installations.
• Support activities and upskill operators in basic equipment care to reduce downtime losses.
• Assist in completing minor improvement projects and recommend opportunities to enhance equipment performance or reliability.
• Establish and manage a tool room including inventory control, tool organization, blade sharpening, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
• Provide assistance in other departments as needed.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure no team member is placed at risk during maintenance activities.
• Follow all OSHA, building code requirements, machine guarding standards, and company safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Observe and correct safety violations and partner with the Safety Coordinator as needed.
• Participate in and reinforce company safety initiatives, training, and compliance programs.
• Ensure housekeeping meets 5S principles; maintain clean, organized, debris-free work areas throughout the shift and at shift end.
• Responsible to clear snow and perform basic groundskeeping in designated areas during winter months.
Quality & Work Standards
• Ensure all work meets company quality standards, equipment specifications, and operational requirements.
• Demonstrate professionalism, strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency when completing tasks.
• Use materials efficiently to minimize waste and support continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, and safety reports for audits and compliance.
• Display strong problem-solving ability and contribute to developing solutions that improve reliability, safety, or productivity.
General Responsibilities
• Follow all company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and maintenance guidelines.
• Maintain excellent attendance and be available to support emergency maintenance situations when required.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, vendors, and contractors.
• Manage interactions with outside vendors performing maintenance or repairs onsite.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective time-management, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• Reliable problem-solving and decision-making skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proficient basic math skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers, supervisors, and external vendors.
