Job Overview:

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Set-Up/Operator to produce tight-tolerance components in a fast-paced, high-mix job-shop environment. You’ll handle daily changeovers, set tooling, verify first-article quality, and keep production running on Swiss-type lathes for aerospace, defense, and commercial customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC Swiss lathes (e.g., Tsugami, Hanwha). Load programs, set offsets, install tooling/collets/guide bushings, and adjust as needed.

  • Execute frequent changeovers and complete first-article inspections; maintain process capability across small- and large-volume runs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T; hold tight tolerances (down to a few tenths as required).

  • Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, height gauges; document results per AS9100/ISO/ITAR shop practices.

  • Partner with programming and quality to optimize cycle time, tooling life, and part quality; assist with basic preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years recent CNC Swiss experience with demonstrated set-up ability (not just operation).

  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T; proficient with inspection tools and first-article documentation.

  • Comfortable working in a certified aerospace/defense environment (AS9100/ISO 9001; ITAR).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple changeovers per day and meet production/quality targets.

Pay & Schedule

  • Hourly range: $24–$30/hr DOE. Full-time. Overtime as needed.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, retirement/401(k).

Nice to Have

  • Fanuc control familiarity; experience with bar feeders, sub-spindles, live tooling, and high-pressure coolant.

  • Prior aerospace/defense or medical device machining; SPC knowledge.

Work Location

  • On-site in Orange, CA 92865.
