Overview

Flextrades is hiring SWISS MACHINISTS/OPERATORS with 4+ years experience for 3-6 month Travelling Contracts across the US

Flextrades is seeking experienced CNC Swiss Machinists and Operators to support a precision manufacturing client. These roles serve as lead setup resource, focused on programming and proving out new parts on CNC Swiss machines and supporting production as needed. The position also plays a key role in sharing knowledge and best practices with full‑time machinists and operators in a high‑precision, tight‑tolerance environment.

Project Specs:

• Machinist $38/hr
• Operator $32/hr
• 50hrs/week GUARANTEED
• $45 per diem (tax-free), 7 days a week
• Private hotel accommodations (we handle the booking)
• References Required
• Must pass a background check and drug test
• Travel time compensation

Responsibilities

Machinist

• Setup Swiss Lathes producing Complex parts

• Complete setups including taking out collets, putting in new collets, and tooling.

• Select cutting tools and make adjustments for best performance

• Responsible for up to 2 machines at a time

Operator

• Ooperating CNC Swiss machines running on G&M code and integrated with bar feeders.

• Completing basic offsets and adjustments for part quality and tool wear and troubleshooting when issues occur as a “first responder”. No speed/feed changes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years setting up/operatiing Swiss Lathes
• Ability to read customer drawings and CAD models (often SolidWorks), apply GD&T, and work with both standard and metric measurements
• Experience working in high‑mix, low‑volume environments while holding very tight tolerances
• Experience selecting cutting tools and materials (mainly stainless steel, with some mild steel and plastics), along with strong communication and mentoring skills
