Job Overview:
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and prove out new and legacy parts on Haas CNC turning machines using company-provided programs, workholding, and tooling.
- Complete and document first-piece inspections per setup sheets, drawings, and quality procedures.
- Verify tooling, workholding, and inspection equipment are available and ready prior to setup (coordinate external setups as needed).
- Adjust tool offsets, work offsets, and feeds/speeds to achieve stable and efficient machining processes.
- Ensure all parts meet dimensional requirements and repeatability targets before releasing to production.
- Train and assist CNC operators on proper part loading, inspection, in-process checks, and tool management.
- Collaborate with programmers and engineering to identify process improvements and tooling enhancements.
- Create and maintain setup documentation and support continuous improvement in setup reduction and process reliability.
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Quality Manual requirements (AS9100D).
- Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience setting up and operating Haas 2-axis, Y-axis, and Dual-Spindle CNC turning machines.
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints and GD&T.
- Experience setting up and operating machining processes for high-nickel alloys (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy) and stainless steels common in aerospace applications.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, bore gages, height gages
- Capable of performing first-piece inspections and verifying conformance using inspection sheets.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Experience with G-code adjustments and minor program edits preferred.
- Leadership and mentoring mindset to assist less-experienced machinists.
- Must be reliable and punctual, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with advanced tooling solutions, in-process probing, and adaptive machining techniques.
- Exposure to AS9100D or ISO 9001 quality systems in a precision machining environment.
- Knowledge of setup reduction and lean manufacturing principles.
Work Environment
- Full-time 1st shift position (Monday – Friday).
- Climate-controlled and clean aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Overtime and cross-functional collaboration with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
