CNC Set-Up & Machining Operator

Summary / objective

This role will be critical in assisting with the production of high-quality precision parts and components used in various industries.

Essential Functions

1. Machine Setup: Assist in setting up CNC machines by loading raw materials, tooling, and fixtures according to specifications provided by the lead machinist.
2. Tooling Preparation: Learn to select, install, and adjust cutting tools and other necessary equipment required for machining operations.
3. Programming: Gain proficiency in using CNC programming software to create and modify machining programs based on engineering drawings and specifications.
4. Machining Operations: Perform machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, and grinding on CNC machines while adhering to established safety and quality standards.
5. Quality Control: Learn to inspect finished parts to ensure they meet the required quality standards, making adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
6. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Assist in routine maintenance tasks and troubleshoot issues with CNC machines under the guidance of experienced technicians.

1. Material Handling: Learn proper techniques for handling and storing materials to prevent damage or contamination during the machining process.
2. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machining activities, including machine settings, tool changes, and production data.
3. Continuous Learning: Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your CNC machining knowledge and skills.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Work Environment

This position operates in the New Mold Build area and will be hands on working position. Work piece set up, programing at the machines and machine set will be required.

Position Type / Expectations of Hours

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Additional hours may be required that involve evening and weekends.

Travel

Occasional travel for training may be required.

Required Education / Experience / Skills

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical education or vocational training in machining is a plus.
2. Basic understanding of machine tools and metalworking processes is beneficial but not mandatory.
3. Strong mechanical aptitude and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
4. Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality work.
5. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
6. Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established procedures.
7. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
