About the Opportunity

Join a small precision machining shop where you can use your skills, work directly with the owner, and contribute to a variety of projects. We’re looking for an experienced CNC machinist who can program, set up, operate, and inspect precision parts while working independently.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys machining, takes pride in accurate work, and wants room to grow with a close-knit team.

What You’ll Do

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision parts.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.

  • Select appropriate tooling, materials, and workholding for each job.

  • Make program edits and adjust offsets, speeds, and feeds to maintain quality and efficiency.

  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.

  • Verify required tolerances and document inspection results.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to keep jobs running properly.

  • Perform occasional welding as projects require, approximately 10–20% of the work.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Collaborate with the owner and shop team to meet production goals and deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with CNC programming, setup, and operation.

  • Ability to independently set up machines and produce parts to specification.

  • Confidence reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.

  • Strong understanding of tooling, machining fundamentals, and tolerances.

  • Ability to identify and resolve routine machining problems.

  • Attention to detail, dependable attendance, and pride in your workmanship.

  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a small team.

  • Willingness to learn shop processes and contribute ideas for improvement.

Preferred: Fanuc controls experience, welding experience, and the ability to train or support less experienced operators. Welding certification is not required.

Why Join This Team?

  • Varied work: Precision machining projects across multiple industries.

  • Direct collaboration: Work alongside the owner and an experienced shop team.

  • Meaningful responsibility: Take ownership of setups, production, and part quality.

  • Growth opportunities: Continue developing your skills and potentially move into a lead role as the shop expands.
