**Summary

**

The CNC Programmer will carry out the following responsibilities and required skills:

• Must be able to read and understand complex drawings and blueprints that provide vital information to machining operations.

• Knowledge of most operations within the Machine Shop and familiarity of most machined castings we produce.

• Works with the Tool Room / Machining Operations Manager and Machine Shop Supervisors to prioritize programming schedule.

• Must be able to program G-Code and develop programs for CNC lathes / mills using MasterCam software or similar software.

• Oversees and directs other Machine Shop Programmers.

• Interacts with outside sources for software and tooling needs.

• Must be able to understand and develop macro programs.

• Knowledge of tooling and tooling concepts used for machining operations.

• Able to schedule CNC machines, and employee machine assignments in absence of and / or in collaboration with the direct supervision as needed.

• Ability to read and understand Guardian information including Guardian reports, scheduling spreadsheets, backlog reports and any miscellaneous reports as necessary.

• Under the direction of the Tool Room / Machining Operations Manager, assist with special projects, but not limited to:

  • - New operator Lathe Training

    • New and trial tooling

    • CNC program / process optimization

• Contribute to Safety and incident meetings when required.

• May attend regular supervisor meetings as needed

• The CNC Programmer must have a working knowledge of most CNC lathes and manual machines within the Machine Shop.
