CNC Programmer – 3 & 4 Axis

A well-established precision manufacturing company in the Sarasota area is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with strong 3-axis and 4-axis machining experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on programmer who can take a part from blueprint through programming, setup support, prove-out, and production.
The ideal candidate understands the complete machining process and is comfortable working with complex, tight-tolerance components in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis and 4-axis machining centers
- Program components from engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications
- Determine machining strategies, tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and sequence of operations
- Support new-part development from initial print through first-piece production
- Develop and improve setups, fixtures, and machining processes
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, dimensional, and machining issues
- Perform program adjustments to improve cycle times, tool life, quality, and repeatability
- Work closely with machinists, quality personnel, and manufacturing engineering
- Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, tolerances, and technical specifications
- Support first-piece prove-outs and ensure programs consistently produce conforming parts
- Maintain accurate programs and related manufacturing documentation
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience programming 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining centers
- Ability to independently program complex precision-machined components
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, cutting tools, fixturing, feeds, speeds, and workholding
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Experience producing tight-tolerance components
- Ability to troubleshoot programs and machining processes directly on the shop floor
- CAM programming experience
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience in a precision machining or advanced manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience with both new-part development and production machining is a plus
