JOB SUMMARY 

As part of our recent growth, we are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and technical support in the planning of numerical control programs to control contour path machining of metal parts using automatic machine tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate to other work area supervisors and leads job status as necessary.
  • Conduct quality system and process training.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources representative and the Plant Manager to address issues pertaining to employee misconduct.
  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data of parts to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates. 
  • Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths. 
  • Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine parts. 
  • Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine. 
  • Write program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path. 
  • Revise program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions. 
  • Observe operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.          
  • Follow all safety guidelines established by the company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures. 
  • Collaborate with external and internal customers, including Manufacturing and Quality Assurance staff, to resolve issues and meet customer specifications.  
  • Work independently, follow instructions.
  • Concentrate for long periods of time while tolerating regular interruptions throughout the day. 
  • Ensure compliance and manage workflow to specifications and delivery schedules.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others. me.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Skill with Master Cam for Milling applications.
  • Familiar with CAD or 3D modeling software and/or Vericut.
  • Skill in interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to the aerospace industry. 
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace documents.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance.
  • Ability to work in a shared office environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

  • Ability to communicate in English through voice, American Sign Language, or adaptive technology. 
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and/or follow written and verbal instructions in English.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent and applicable training classes for programming.
  • Five (5) years CNC machine operation experience. 
  • Five (5) years of CAD/CAM experience.

SALARY DESCRIPTION

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Skills Inc. is a self-supporting Social Enterprise and is organized as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit. We have three lines of business; Aerospace Manufacturing, Aerospace Finishing, and Business Solutions, that operate in 3 locations. Skills Inc. employs over 250 people and our social mission is to train, employ and serve persons with disabilities. We accomplish our mission three ways; direct hire, vocational programs and services, and as a resource to the community.

Salary Range: $28.00 - $45.00
