Job Overview
Atlas Fibre is seeking a CNC Production Supervisor (2nd Shift) to lead evening manufacturing operations in our Northbrook, IL facility. This is a hands-on leadership role for a manufacturing supervisor with CNC machining experience who can drive production, ensure quality, and lead a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Production & CNC Operations
- Supervise daily production to meet output, quality, and on-time delivery goals
- Assign labor and optimize workflow across production areas
- Monitor CNC machining operations, troubleshoot issues, and reduce downtime
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines as needed
- Ensure proper tooling setup, material loading, and machine performance
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain organized work areas
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees
- Enforce attendance, safety, and performance expectations
- Conduct shift meetings and manage shift handoffs
- Train and onboard new employees
- Address performance concerns and escalate when necessary
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure products meet engineering and quality standards
- Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives
- Enforce company policies and regulatory requirements
Safety
- Promote a safe work environment and enforce PPE and OSHA compliance
- Identify and resolve workplace hazards
Communication & Reporting
- Track and report production metrics, downtime, and staffing needs
- Maintain shift logs and production reports
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and materials teams
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- On-time production and delivery
- Productivity and labor efficiency
- Scrap, rework, and defect rates
- Attendance and overtime management
- Safety performance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred
- 2–5 years of manufacturing supervisor or production lead experience
- 1–3+ years of CNC machining experience (required)
- Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with CNC milling machines
- Knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
