About the Role
A leading manufacturer of commercial BBQ smokers and custom cooking equipment is seeking a skilled
CNC/Plasma Operator
to join their fabrication team. This is a great opportunity to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment where precision and craftsmanship are valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC plasma cutting machines according to job specifications.
- Load and secure metal sheets/plates onto cutting tables.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and cut lists.
- Adjust machine parameters, speeds, and cutting conditions.
- Inspect completed parts for accuracy using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and squares.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, including replacing consumables and cleaning cutting tables.
- Troubleshoot cutting issues such as kerf deviations, incomplete cuts, or bevel inconsistencies.
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace in compliance with shop safety standards.
- Communicate with supervisors and fabricators to ensure smooth production flow.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year experience operating CNC plasma, laser, or similar CNC cutting equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong math, measurement, and tolerance interpretation skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fabrication environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with common shop tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with steel or sheet metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM files used in CNC programming.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or metalworking environments
