Job Overview:

Job Title: CNC Operator/Programmer 

 

Job Summary:

The CNC programmer's main responsibility is creating and modifying programs that control CNC machines to shape raw materials into desired products. They translate blueprints and design models into machine-readable code, ensuring efficient and accurate production of high-quality parts. This involves interpreting drawings, selecting tools and materials, optimizing programs, and troubleshooting issues that arise during the manufacturing process. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creating and writing CNC code (like G-code) to instruct the machine on how to cut, shape, and finish materials. 
  • Analyzing blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements and tool selection. 
  • Choosing appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories for specific jobs and maintaining a database of available tools. 
  • Setting up CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and routers, and optimizing programs for efficiency, accuracy, and tooling utilization. 
  • Conducting test runs and adjusting programs to ensure parts meet quality and precision standards and troubleshooting issues during the manufacturing process. 
  • Working with engineers, designers, and machine operators to refine designs, resolve issues, and improve production processes. 
  • Maintaining accurate program files, revision histories, and records of machining processes, program changes, and maintenance activities. 
  • Following safety protocols and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associates degree, Certification, or equivalent combination of work and education.

Minimum 3 year’s experience 


Physical Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. 

Prolonged times sitting at a desk.
