At RLWS, a CNC Cell operator performs machining to satisfactory product standards and specifications, and ensures all items meet RLWS quality standards. The CNC Cell operator operates CNC machines including tooling offsets and insert changes as necessary to keep parts in required specifications. The operator uses overhead crane and forklift operations required to assist with moving material. The CNC Cell operator is expected to have strong communication skills. All RLWS employees are expected to work in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities. This is achieved by following safety procedures and work instructions, and keeping the work area clean and organized. The CNC Cell operator works in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team to maintain productivity standards and quality expectations. This position will work Sunday, Friday and Saturday 6:30 AM-6:30 PM. This position will also be responsible for after-hour support as needed.
Essential Job Functions, Major Tasks and Skills:
- Operation of CNC machines include tooling offsets and tool/insert changing as necessary to keep parts in specification. Operator must be able to recover from and troubleshoot machine alarms/errors minimizing downtime.
- Accurately complete daily operator checklists to help increase machine up time.
- Must be able to perform basic robot functions.
- Must be able to set-up work holding and fixtures for parts that are scheduled to run.
- Identify and effectively communicate ideas of how to increase machine up time.
- Reading of measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, optical comparator, use of SPC related equipment.
- Work in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities at all times.
- Keep work area organized and as clean as possible while working. Clean up all tooling, machinery and work area when finished with each job. This area is expected to be “tour ready” at all times.
- Notify direct supervisor or technician of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly.
- Maintain accurate records of time and quantities, etc. If incorrect time or quantity is identified, notify supervisor so it can be corrected.
- Maintain certification to operate the overhead crane and forklift to move material.
- Read and comprehend blueprints to ensure machine proper tooling requirements.
- Work independently to complete required workload.
- Ability to work with others when required.
- Ability to operate power tools and basic hand tools.
- Ensure the blueprints and supervisor’s/technicians directions are followed.
- This employee may be required to travel for training as needed.
- This employee must be self-motivated.
- This employee must be able to envision our growth goals and assist in achieving them through continuous improvement.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
