Job Overview:

General Overview:  CNC Operator/Setter is responsible for the safety, quality, and production of producing a rough bat from a billet to produce the finest sporting good products while working in a safe organized environment in the Roughmill Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows all safety, quality, manufacturing processes procedures
  • Conducts in-process quality checks to ensure compliance standards are being met
  • Reads, understands, and follows all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in production supporting the manufacturing of our sporting good products
  • Reads, understands, and follows all product specifications and processes supporting the manufacturing of our sporting good products 
  • Operates roughmill machinery including CNC, Trim Saw, Sander, and Doweller
  • Adjusts CNC machine settings according to bat specification 
  • Organizes the billet or bat stock inventory in a safe, efficient, and user-friendly system
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment including daily end-of-shift cleaning
  • Cleans machinery on a weekly basis

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:

  • 1-2 years machine operator experience in a manufacturing 
  • On-the-job training
  • Ability to operate machinery and change computer programs on CNC 
  • Proficiency in operating measuring tools including rulers, calculators, scales, calipers, scales, slope of grain, and measuring tape
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot issues independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Good communications skills 

Working Conditions:  Clean, organized, production work environment.  Depending upon production department, may be exposed to extreme weather conditions and outside elements.

Safety Hazards:  Depending upon production department, may be exposed to dust, air borne fibers, dirt, noise, vibrations, chemicals, and solvents.  Safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots, gloves, sleeves, smocks, and positive pressure full-face hoods are required while performing certain tasks.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as specifications and procedures.  Must have good verbal communication skills. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to apply concepts of basic math and reading measurements (fractions and decimals)

REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to recognize a situation and escalate clearly.  Ability to deal with problems and contribute to problem solving.
