CNC Machine Operator III– (Multi-Axis)
We are looking to bring on a skilled CNC Machine Operator to our client’s team in Kent, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers to produce high-precision aerospace components. This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to strict quality and safety standards. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term growth potential in the aerospace industry.
Compensation: $30 – $45/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Location: Kent, WA
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers (multi-axis)
Accurately identify and work within X, Y, and Z axes
Interpret aerospace blueprints, GD&T, setup sheets, and work instructions
Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other tools
Verify tooling and fixturing using indicators for flatness, alignment, and accuracy
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling as needed
Detect irregular machine operation and troubleshoot issues, including program edits
Perform daily machine checks and report maintenance concerns
Load/unload materials manually or using hoists/cranes
Replace cutting tools and maintain tooling per safety and quality protocols
Transfer CNC programs and input control instructions as needed
Complete rework, deburring, and fixture repairs when required
Maintain coolant systems and ensure proper machine function
Support continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, scrap reduction, and quality
Assist in training new operators as needed
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all PPE and safety requirements
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
3+ years of CNC machining experience in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment
Experience working with multi-axis machining centers (3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis)
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, including GD&T
Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
Strong basic math skills (including fractions and conversions)
Experience troubleshooting machining and program-related issues
Stable work history with consistent employment
Ability to meet ITAR requirements (must be a U.S. Person)
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational training or certification in machining or manufacturing technology
Experience working with tight-tolerance aerospace components
Experience with cranes, forklifts, or material handling equipment
Previous experience training or mentoring operators
