Conveniently located in Matthews, NC, just outside Charlotte, Northeast Tool is seeking talented individuals for CNC Operator I & II opportunities across all shifts. In addition to competitive base pay, we offer a $1/hour premium for 2nd shift and a $2/hour premium for 3rd shift positions.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate CNC equipment, including 5-axis mills, mills, multi-axis mill-turns, lathes, and Wire EDM machines to produce precision metal components.
  • Follow blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to manufacture parts within required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Set up and maintain tooling, including tool changes, offsets, recalibration, and monitoring tool wear.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments and digital measurement tools to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify machining issues or out-of-tolerance conditions, and make adjustments or escalate concerns as needed.
  • Perform secondary operations such as deburring, cleaning, tapping, and countersinking.
  • Load and unload materials and completed parts from machining centers.
  • Complete required production documentation and maintain a clean, organized work area through 5S and preventive maintenance practices.

What We Are Looking For

  • High School Diploma/GED with 1+ years related experience in a metal cutting machine shop environment.
  • Equivalent combination of higher-level education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Experience with basic shop math, and familiarity with GD&T.
  • Basic understanding of blueprint reading and tolerances; able to use machine shop language to communicate effectively (i.e. reading decimal values in thousandths and tenths).
  • Demonstrable experience with measuring instruments (i.e. mic's, calipers) is required, with the ability to produce consistent, reliable, and repeatable measurements.
  • High aptitude for learning, and ability to follow adhered processes and procedures.

Even Better

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or two years of equivalent higher education strongly preferred; preference in machine tool technology or industrial manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous experience in an AS9100 Environment strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with multi-axis machining preferred; DMG Mori, Haas, Heller, and/or Okuma experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience holding tight tolerances (from 2-tenths to 5-tenths).

Standard Hours

  • 1st Shift: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Monday – Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: Monday – Friday: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
