Job Overview:

SUMMARY: Operates automated and manual equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads job specifications or work instructions to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template, as required.
  • Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
  • Locks pieces in place.
  • Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
  • Reports work piece defects or machine malfunction to working foreman.
  • Makes minor adjustments.
  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Inspects parts per SPC requirements and charts when needed or required and enters into computer.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or work pieces.
  • Operates hand tools to remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece.
  • Assists in machine set up, and stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through:

  • Completion of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED),
  • One to three years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to comprehend simple decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform minor adjustments to tools and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain tools and equipment utilized in assignments.
