Job Overview:

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible to set up and cut sheets and plates for fabrication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: 

  • Responsible to complete assigned projects on-time and accurately; follow directions, scope and procedures provided by team leads and supervisors. 
  • Layout and cut materials for fabrication using appropriate procedures. 
  • Record part numbers on materials after cutting. 
  • Follow established processes to record materials used on pick tickets, movement tickets and other required reports in a timely manner. 
  • Communicate with shop leads to assist in maintaining a backlog of cut parts to be fabricated to ensure work is kept in front of them at all times. 
  • Coordinate schedule of hours that need worked each day to ensure enough material is cut. 
  • Perform machine setup, check settings, maintain basic operation of machine. 
  • Report changes and mistakes to Production Control. 
  • Learn and adapt quickly to assigned project tasks. 
  • Responsible for quality of work produced and follow methods of continuous improvement. 
  • Operate rolling stock such as forklifts and scissor lifts, overhead cranes to safely move materials. 
  • Operate shop power tools safely. 
  • Report broken equipment and safety hazards to supervisor. 
  • Perform work according to ICM quality policies. 
  • Complete training as directed. 
  • Follow all safety rules. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace. 
  • Available to help support other operations on machines as plate rolls, press brakes and bandsaw. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Required Knowledge & Experience:      

  • 1-3 years steel fabrication experience preferred

Skills/Abilities:                  

  • Experience with CNC, grinding and steel fabrication procedures preferred
  • Must have basic ability to read, analyze, and interpret fabrication drawings 
  • Must have ability to use tape measures, squares, levels, and various layout tools
  • Ability to identify sheets and plates by size, gauge and material type preferred
  • Ability to identify beam, angle, channel, and other types of materials by size, thickness, and type preferred

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Manufacturing environment, may be exposed to extremes in temperature, hazardous or moving equipment, loud noises, and crowded environments, continually.   

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

This job may require lifting of up to 75 pounds continuously
