Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: 

Program, set-up and operate a CNC OD/ID Grinder. Will grind metal parts while maintaining quality and safety standards, keep accurate records and maintain equipment and supplies. 
 
 PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:

• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the programing of a CNC OD/ID Grinder through the use of G&M codes and/or conversational controls.
• Inspect or measure finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges, micrometers, CMM’s.
• Set up, operate, and tend grinding operations on multiple machines.
• Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems.
• Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation to optimize cycle times.
• Study blueprints, work orders or machining instructions to determine product specifications and tool requirements.
• Mount and position tools in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:

• High school diploma or GED required. 
• Knowledge and experience of precision machining with Parker Majestic CNC OD/ID grinders is preferred.
• Knowledge of trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and knowledge of GD&T.
• Knowledge of grinding hardened materials, and basic knowledge of Rockwell hardness scale.  

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

• Required to stand for extended periods of time. 
• Must be able to function in a machine shop environment.
• Work schedule generally consists of 40+ hours per week, which may include overtime, on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
