We are seeking a skilled CNC Milling/Turning Programmer to join our dynamic team in Mt Vernon, NY. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in CNC programming and machining, with the ability to work with precision and attention to detail. This role involves operating CNC lathes and milling machines, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring high-quality production standards. The CNC Machinist will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process, contributing to the creation of components that meet stringent specifications. In this role, you will be responsible for programming and setting up CNC machines to produce high-quality components that meet our clients' specifications. Duties
- Operate CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision components.
- Perform CNC programming for various machining tasks.
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints using SolidWorks and CAD software.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control.
- Conduct routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot any issues that arise during production.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize manufacturing processes through lean manufacturing techniques.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling effectively for assembly and machining tasks.
- Set up and run up to two machines to fabricate precision parts
- Load and unload parts in the machine
- Start the machining cycle
- Inspect dimensions of finished pieces
- Change tooling as needed
- Hold tight tolerance of +/- .0002
- Meet quality standards and production schedules
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment, specifically with milling and turning machines.
- Proficiency in CNC programming, including familiarity with Fanuc controls.
- Proficiency in G-code programming and CAD/CAM software.
- Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Basic math skills for measurement calculations and adjustments.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC Mill machines to fabricate precision parts/components.
- Should demonstrate interest and aptitude in this line of work
- Relevant technical Associate degree or CNC Machining certificate is preferred for candidates with minimal work experience
- Experience working to very close tolerances (+/- .0002)
- Experience with reading blue prints for mechanical components
- Experience inspecting parts and using inspection tools
- Good aptitude for shop math
- Experience with changing live tooling
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet production schedule
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining is a plus.
- Able to stand for duration of shift and lift up to 40lbs
