Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (25% shift differential)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC milling machines while producing high-quality precision components for the aerospace industry. In this role, you'll be responsible for machining parts to specification, inspecting your work, making machine adjustments as needed, and collaborating with Engineering and Programming to ensure quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (Technical school preferred)
  • 8+ years of CNC milling machine experience
  • 2+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Experience setting up and operating 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Knowledge of machining various metals, alloys, speeds, and feeds
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and work instructions
  • Experience using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to train and mentor other machinists
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, as needed

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision aerospace components
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Verify dimensions and ensure parts meet blueprint and customer specifications
  • Make machine offsets and adjustments to maintain quality and close tolerances
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and machine issues
  • Work with Engineering on new job launches and tool prove-outs
  • Collaborate with Programming and Quality to resolve production issues
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in good working condition
  • Complete production and inspection documentation in accordance with AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and efficiency
  • Provide on-the-job training to new and existing machinists
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, moving equipment, cutting fluids, metal chips, forklifts, and other industrial conditions. Occasional travel between the Southwick and Westfield facilities may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 30 pounds as needed
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to read blueprints and work instructions with or without corrective lenses
