Base Pay: $25.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience
Shift Differential: 10% 2nd shift differential
We are looking for an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join a precision manufacturing team in Glastonbury, CT.
This position is responsible for setting up and operating horizontal / turn milling machines to produce complex, high-precision components. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, reading complex blueprints, performing detailed setups, and troubleshooting machining and tooling issues.
Set up and operate manual and/or CNC milling machines
Perform complex machining operations including heavy stock removal, straddle milling, slotting, splines, keyways, gears, and precision bores
Select appropriate cutters, tooling, and machining methods
Build and modify fixtures and work-holding solutions
Adjust speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters to improve quality and efficiency
Develop, edit, or optimize CNC programs when applicable
Plan machining sequences from blueprint through completed part
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixturing, and material issues
Read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment
Maintain tight tolerances and required surface finishes
Complete first-piece inspections and verify setups before production
Identify and correct quality issues and non-conformances
Perform routine machine maintenance and alignment checks
Work with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production to improve processes
Maintain tooling, fixtures, and equipment
Support training and provide guidance to other machinists when needed
Follow all safety, quality, and production requirements
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred
3+ years of milling experience, including complex setups
Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and materials
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills
Ability to independently run jobs from setup through completion
Experience using precision measuring instruments
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
CNC programming / program editing experience
Aerospace, defense, tool & die, or other high-precision manufacturing experience
Experience with ISO, AS9100, or similar quality systems
Previous experience mentoring or training other machinists
