Job Overview:

CNC Mill Set-Up Technician – 2nd Shift

Monday–Thursday | Four 10-Hour Shifts | Three-Day Weekend Every Week

Position Overview

CCT Enterprises is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift CNC Mill Set-Up Technician to join our growing precision machining team. This position is responsible for independently setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining CNC milling machines while ensuring all quality, safety, and production standards are met.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on machinist who can confidently perform complete setups on established production jobs, maintain tight tolerances, troubleshoot machining issues, and support a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Production & Set-Up

  • Independently perform complete machine setups on established CNC milling jobs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, job travelers, and work instructions.
  • Install and adjust vises, fixtures, tooling, tool holders, probes, and workholding devices.
  • Set tool lengths, work offsets, and fixture offsets.
  • Perform tool changes, offset adjustments, and minor program edits as required.
  • Verify first-piece quality before releasing jobs into production.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot tooling, dimensional, or process issues.
  • Maintain production efficiency while minimizing scrap and downtime.
  • Support production schedules and communicate delays or process concerns to supervision.

Quality & Inspection

  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including:
  • Verify parts meet blueprint specifications and customer requirements.
  • Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming material.
  • Complete all required quality and production documentation.
  • Follow ISO/IATF quality procedures and inspection standards.

Technical Skills & Troubleshooting

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of:
  • Perform minor program edits as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve machining issues related to tooling, fixtures, or part quality.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce downtime.

Teamwork & Training

  • Work closely with operators, quality personnel, supervisors, and fellow machinists.
  • Assist in training less experienced operators and setup technicians.
  • Communicate production concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and safe machining practices.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or equipment concerns immediately.
  • Understand emergency stop procedures and machine safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of CNC mill setup experience.
  • Ability to independently perform complete setups on established production jobs.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and setup documentation.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, work offsets, fixture offsets, and speeds & feeds.
  • Ability to perform minor program edits.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vertical machining centers.
  • Experience with multi-axis machining centers.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc or Haas controls.
  • Experience in a high-volume production machining environment.
  • Familiarity with JobBOSS or similar manufacturing software.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

This position requires hands-on setup experience and the ability to support production independently.
