The CNC Mill Machine Operator is responsible for producing precision metal components by operating CNC milling equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on machine operation, part handling, and in-process inspection to ensure parts meet required specifications, quality standards, and production goals.
The position requires close attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to follow technical documentation such as blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions. The operator works closely with programming, setup, and production teams to support efficient and consistent manufacturing operations. This is an on-site, hourly role within a fast-paced machining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Machining & Production
- Operate CNC milling machines to manufacture parts to specified tolerances and requirements
- Load and unload raw materials and completed components safely and efficiently
- Follow setup documentation, drawings, and CNC programs to perform machining operations
- Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments to maintain part quality
- Perform tool changes and adjust offsets as necessary during production
Inspection & Quality Control
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes throughout production runs
- Identify and report nonconforming parts or process issues to supervision
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately and on time
Safety & Organization
- Adhere to all safety policies, machine operation guidelines, and PPE requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation in alignment with 5S standards
- Handle materials, tools, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work with CNC programmers, setup technicians, and supervisors to resolve machining issues
- Assist with first-article inspections and job changeovers
- Participate in improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One to three years of experience operating CNC milling machines in a manufacturing setting
- Vocational or technical training in machining preferred
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Understanding of CNC machining principles, tolerances, and best practices
- Experience with vertical and/or horizontal CNC milling machines
- Basic knowledge of G-code, including tool offset and tool wear adjustments
- Experience machining metals such as steel and aluminum
