Position Summary
At Beretta U.S.A., our CNC Technicians play a key role in producing the highest-quality firearms in the industry. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for a skilled CNC professional who enjoys more than simply operating equipment. In this role, you will directly support production, troubleshoot machining issues, assist with quality control, guide operators, support basic maintenance needs, and help drive continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor.

The right candidate will be comfortable moving between CNC machines, tooling systems, inspection requirements, shop-floor support, and computer-based reporting.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Operation, Setup & Production Support
- Operate CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and machining centers as required to support production needs.
- Position raw material or substrates in vises, fixtures, lathes, milling machines, or other CNC equipment.
- Set controls, monitor the machining process, and ensure machines run in a steady, continuous manner.
- Operate multiple CNC machine centers and support multiple workstations when needed.
- Perform duties of operators as required to maintain production flow and meet output requirements.
- Keep count of parts produced daily and help hold shift operators accountable for quality and productivity expectations.
Quality, Inspection & Process Control
- Produce parts that meet Beretta U.S.A. quality specifications while following standard operating procedures and production requirements.
- Use calibrated instruments, tolerance gauges, CMM reports, blueprints, process sheets, and other graphic instructions to verify product quality.
- Make tool changes and tool offset adjustments based on gauging results, CMM readouts, and observed machining conditions.
- Inspect parts for abnormalities and identify broken, dull, or worn tooling before quality issues escalate.
- Ensure highly accurate parts are produced and communicate errors in production, quality, or performance to the immediate supervisor.
Troubleshooting, Tooling & Technical Support
- Identify, analyze, and resolve problems related to CNC machining operations.
- Detect problems by listening for abnormal sounds, recognizing excessive vibration, monitoring lubrication and cooling, and observing machine performance.
- Properly assemble, preset, monitor, and manage tooling to be loaded into CNC machines.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, basic CNC programs, and G/M-code programs.
- Assist with operation and troubleshooting to maintain production requirements.
- Work alongside Maintenance to troubleshoot and repair CNC mills, lathes, and grinders on smaller mechanical or pneumatic components.
- Support troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as needed.
Leadership, Communication & Continuous Improvement
- Assign workers to workstations as needed to meet production requirements.
- Monitor production and adjust work assignments, material supply, or machine operation when necessary.
- Train workers in equipment operation and reinforce safe, consistent work practices.
- Confer with supervisors to receive instructions and exchange production information.
- Communicate temporary and permanent process changes regularly to manufacturing and engineering.
- Assist with identifying and developing preventive maintenance activities tied to production processes and equipment.
- Support development, improvement, and problem-solving initiatives that improve machine uptime, quality, throughput, and process reliability.
Machine Care, Housekeeping & Maintenance Support
- Clean machine fixtures, load raw material, and prepare parts by deburring, sanding, or cleaning for fixture placement.
- Start up and shut down machines according to expectations.
- Monitor tool management systems and support proper tooling organization.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities on machines as assigned.
- Maintain clean equipment and work areas throughout the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Abilities
- Strong CNC manufacturing background with thorough knowledge of cutting tools, CNC machine operation, and precision metal cutting processes.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve CNC machining problems with urgency and sound judgment.
- Strong communication, leadership, and accountability skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, process sheets, CMM reports, and basic CNC programs.
- Ability to read G/M-code programs and understand the principles of CNC machine operations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce highly accurate parts.
- Basic math skills and the ability to complete production counts and related documentation accurately.
- Computer proficiency, including Windows-based software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerance, shop mechanics, drafting, occupational hazards, and required safety precautions.
- Ability to recognize machine problems and take a proactive approach to machining issues.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Four to seven years’ minimum experience as a Machinist in a machine shop with horizontal and vertical machinery, Turning Centers, and Grinders.
- Technical school experience or equivalent CNC training preferred.
- Experience as a shift leader in a machining environment preferred.
- Strong background in shop mechanics, drafting, CNC machining, troubleshooting, and production support preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- This is a 24-hour manufacturing operation; availability to work weekends and overtime is required as business needs demand.
- Work is performed at a computer and on CNC machines in the Manufacturing area.
- Work requires standing for extended periods and frequent walking between machines and workstations.
- Personal protective equipment is required.
- Work may involve confined areas, uneven or slippery floors, oils, coolants, and cleaning solutions.
- Physical exertion may require lifting up to 50 pounds for short periods. Lifts in excess of safe individual limits may require assistance.
- Work requires delicate and controlled movements to locate small components in fixtures and vises.

The CNC Technician must be dependable, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while also supporting Operators, Supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering. The position requires sound judgment under pressure, strong follow-through, and the ability to help protect production output without compromising Safety or Quality.
