Position Overview

We are looking for a Machine Maintenance Technician to keep all machinery and our facility in safe, operational condition. The scope of a CNC maintenance employee covers a wide range of responsibilities focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the performance of CNC machines and related equipment.

You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, assisting in new machine installations, and securing outside services. You will also communicate and record work status, along with needs and ideas.

Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance

  • Follow scheduled maintenance plans (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Oversee maintenance activities on CNC machine tools, including changing fluids and filters, and checking the accuracy of calibrations
  • Conduct preventive maintenance for all machines in the facility, including all CNC lathe and mill machines, kaiser compressors, and wet deburring (including Roto finish)
  • Replace worn parts before failure (belts, seals, filters, etc.)
  • Inspect coolant systems, air lines, and safety interlocks

Corrective/Reactive Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and repair machine breakdowns
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues
  • Replace or repair faulty motors, drives, sensors, ball screws, spindles, etc.

Support for Continuous Improvement

  • Identify root causes of repeat failures
  • Suggest and implement reliability improvements
  • Assist with retrofits or upgrades to control systems and automation
  • Assisting with new machine installs, consisting of airlines, assisting riggers, and network cabling

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC machine maintenance, preferably in a high-mix, low-volume production environment
  • Hands-on experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines, as well as bar feeders, chip conveyors, and coolant systems
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair spindles, ball screws, bearings, couplings, motors, drives, relays, contractors, sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Proven experience executing scheduled PMs using checklists or CMMS systems
  • History of contributing to machine reliability improvements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Operation and mechanical structure of CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turns
  • Functional knowledge of Fanuc, Okuma, and Siemens control platforms
  • Familiarity with machine parameters, ladder logic, and alarm diagnostics
  • Familiarity with bar feeders, chip conveyors, and coolant systems
  • Understanding of machine tool geometry, backlash, alignment, and leveling
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors, servo motors, drives, encoders, fuses, breakers, relays, and contractors
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing floor setting: noise, moving machinery, overhead cranes, forklifts, compressed air systems
  • Exposure to metal chips, cutting fluids, coolants, dust, grease, and oil
  • Work performed in tight spaces, on ladders, or under machines
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, or crouching
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment for extended periods
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. and heavier loads with assistance

**Salary: **$35 - $40 per hour
