Summary:

As a CNC Technician, your main focus is on the installation, start-up and repair of the plant’s CNC related equipment. You also are required to perform routine maintenance, rebuild and repair work on all equipment in the facility to support production needs. You must display a high skill level in one or more of the following electrical/electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems, millwright; with the ability to work with and train others. A successful CNC Technician will self-start and take initiative without direction. You will be dedicated to the department's and company's objectives.

Specific skills include mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, welding and electrical. Duties include installation, maintenance and repair of production or processing equipment. Incumbents may fabricate machine guards, install or repair conveyers, replace motors, tear down or replace pumps, maintain fluid collection or distribution equipment or repair electro-mechanical equipment. Incumbents at this level perform advanced troubleshooting, work with general supervision and may provide work training to less experienced maintenance staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Employs advanced problem-solving skills and mentoring/guiding CNC Maintenance Associates.

2. Install, start-up, repair/rebuild of CNC related equipment.

3. Troubleshooting parts, equipment, breakdowns (using technical manuals, identifying, requisitioning, replacing).

4. Understands process control and sequencing of operation of industrial processes, understanding how changing one piece might affect the overall system, with the ultimate result the effective rebuild/repair of the system.

5. Perform new equipment installation and set up including but not limited to rigging, strapping, moving, setting up machinery, and leveling.

6. Develop maintenance system improvements capable of troubleshooting, repairing, PLC hardware for CNC and other plant equipment.

8. Troubleshoot/Repair/Rebuild all parts of a CNC Machine, spindle units, servo motors, drives, ball screws, etc.

9. Troubleshoot and repair of water-cooling system and plant air system.

10. Troubleshoot and repair transformers, bussbars, water tower and pumps, and compressors.

11. Troubleshoot and repair gas fired and electrical furnaces and making sure they are properly maintained on a routine basis.

12. Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all hydraulic and pneumatic systems, valves and cylinders.

13. Must be able to read electrical schematics and ladder logic to troubleshoot specific repairs.

14. Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and repair and maintain all electrical systems in the facility.

15. Utilize SAP system to complete work orders or disposition equipment.

16. Training in Lock/Out Tag/Out.

19. Must follow all EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) and Quality policies and procedures as set forth by the Pace Industries management systems as well as Federal and State regulations.

20. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Technical degree preferred in such disciplines as Industrial Maintenance, Machining Technology, etc, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
