Summary

Baton Rouge Machine Works, a division of In-Place Machining, is a provider of quality solutions for clients in industries such as power generation, pulp and paper, petrochemicals, and other heavy sectors. We are seeking experienced CNC machinists to join our team in Baton Rouge. 


 Exhibit and enforce a culture where safety is the first priority! 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Proficient Operator of CNC Lathes & Milling, & Multitask Machines.
  • Set-up machine for operation & processing.
  • Manual Machining Experience
  • CNC programming knowledge using CadCam Software.
  • Manufacture custom precision parts for production and large scale industrial repair work.
  • Help Coordinate and Strategize CNC Machine Selection for optimized workflow.
  • Knowledge in the use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but are not limited to caliper, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales. Faro C&M is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading/geometric tolerancing interpretation.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Perform Q.C. inspection of parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery.
  • Advanced Computer Skills.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or GED/HSED, required

Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:

  • Occasionally talk or hear
  • Frequently sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls
  • Frequently stand and walk
  • Frequently climb ladders and stairs
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, bend or crouch
  • Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs)
  • Frequently use portable hand power tools (angle grinder, drill, power hammer, etc.)
  • Respirator fit testing and use may be required
  • Specific vision abilities: include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include: forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment or a customer site both indoors and outdoors. Will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or otherwise inclement weather during part of the workweek.

Other Requirements

  • OSHA 10
  • Valid driver’s license, preferred
  • Successful completion of IPM Overhead Crane Training, required
  • Successful completion of IPM’s Forklift Training, required
  • Valid Forklift license, required
  • Ability to utilize multiple mobile apps for time sheet entry, travel, expense reporting, etc
