Position Overview

We are partnering with an established industrial manufacturing company in Aurora, OH, seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its machining team. This is a 2nd shift position (Monday - Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM) with a $2/HR shift differential.

This position is ideal for a hands-on machinist who enjoys taking ownership of the machining process, including machine setup, program editing, tooling selection, troubleshooting, and precision machining.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating and setting up CNC mills and/or lathes, interpreting complex blueprints, and producing high-quality machined components to exact specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes to manufacture precision components.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, machining specifications, and GD&T requirements.

  • Edit and adjust CNC programs using G-code and/or conversational programming.

  • Establish machine zero points, tool offsets, compensation, and machining parameters.

  • Select, install, adjust, sharpen, and maintain cutting tools based on machining requirements.

  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments.

  • Monitor machining operations, identify quality or equipment issues, and make necessary adjustments.

  • Troubleshoot machining problems, modify existing programs, and optimize cutting processes.

  • Maintain equipment through routine preventive maintenance and proper machine care.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve machining processes, quality, and efficiency.

  • Assist with training and supporting other machinists on setups, programming, and troubleshooting.

  • Maintain accurate production documentation and follow established safety and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.

  • Strong CNC machine setup and operation experience, including the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Experience editing CNC programs, making offsets, and adjusting machining parameters.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.

  • Experience using precision measuring tools and performing dimensional inspections.

  • Knowledge of cutting tools, machining processes, feeds, speeds, and tooling adjustments.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Working knowledge of machining mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.

  • Ability to maintain close tolerances and consistently produce quality components.

Preferred:

  • Experience with FANUC CNC controls.

  • Experience operating and setting up Haas CNC mills and lathes.

  • Familiarity with CMM inspection equipment.

  • Associate degree or technical training in Machining Technology or a related field.

  • Experience with G-code programming, conversational programming, and tool nose radius compensation.

  • Experience identifying and implementing machining process improvements.

Work Environment

  • Hands-on machining position within an industrial manufacturing facility.

  • Requires standing for extended periods and working around production machinery.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.

  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including moderate noise and airborne graphite dust.

  • Required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated areas.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This opportunity offers experienced machinists the ability to apply their technical skills beyond basic machine operation. The position involves independent setups, CNC program adjustments, troubleshooting, tooling decisions, and continuous improvement.
