Duties and Responsibilities:

Level 1:

  • Understands basic machining techniques. 
  • Processes product using various CNC Machines.
  • Able to set up and operate 3 axis CNC equipment.  
  • Verify your own product using basic inspection equipment.  
  • Deburr parts.
  • Follow Quality Management Systems (QMS) procedures.  
  • Process work within performance and delivery requirements: 
  • Meet established productivity standards. 
  • Follow communicated job priority instructions.  
  • Communicate production delays and problems to appropriate supervisor.  
  • Utilize ERP system to document work movement.  
  • Teamwork
  • Support all members of the Manufacturing and Orion team fully to achieve company, departmental, and personal goals, and objectives.
  • Maintain 6S and Lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Participate in team and company meetings.
  • Role model proper work ethics, behaviors, hygiene, and dress.


Level 2 – Accomplishes all duties and responsibilities of level 1 plus:

  • Understand and apply advanced machine techniques. 
  • Set up and run 4 & 5 axis CNC machines.  
  • Set-up tooling and production processes on CNC equipment.
  • Become a Mentor to Program Participants. 
  • Ability to obtain a delegation stamp.  

Level 3 – Accomplishes all duties and responsibilities of level 2 plus:

  • Designs, specifies, and creates tooling and production processes on CNC equipment.
  • Provides training to Orion staff and recommends qualification on specific processes and equipment as identified on qualification matrix.
  • Ability to make manufacturing improvements.  
  • Edit CNC programs and equipment.  

Lead – Accomplishes all duties and responsibilities of level 3 plus:

  • Coordinates staff assignments as needed to meet production and Program Participant needs.
  • Monitors production performance across manufacturing cell and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Troubleshoots problems that are beyond the capability of machinists.
  • Participates in safety and quality investigations and recommends corrective action.
  • Time and attendance management to include approval of time off, overtime, and timecards.  
  • Provide input for Performance Reviews and disciplinary actions.  
  • Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as instructed by direct supervisor.  


Requirements

Qualifications:

Level 1:

  • Some manufacturing experience utilizing various machines and processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of inspection techniques.  
  • Organizational ability.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collectively.


Level 2 – All qualifications of level 1 plus:

  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant machining experience.
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training or mentoring.


Level 3 – All qualifications of level 2 plus:

  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes including specific experience on assigned equipment.
  • Experience providing on-the-job training or mentoring.
  • Experience developing tooling and production processes.
  • Lead – All qualifications of level 3 plus:
  • Aptitude for supervisory skills.
