A leading manufacturer of medium to high-complexity machined parts, specializing in precision CNC machining for aerospace, defense, automotive, marine, and industrial applications, is seeking skilled CNC Machinists to join their growing team! The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC mills and lathes, ensuring high-precision machining to meet industry standards. The ideal candidate has experience with complex aerospace components, tight tolerance machining, and a strong understanding of CNC programming and blueprint reading
Key Responsibilities:
- CNC Machine Operation & Setup
- Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills and vertical/horizontal lathes, including those with integrated milling capabilities.
- Perform mill, turn, bandsaw, drill, and finishing/deburring operations.
- Machine parts to high-precision tolerances using Haas and Okuma machines.
- Load raw materials and tooling, ensuring proper alignment and secure setups.
- Interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with tight aerospace and defense industry tolerances.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, depth gauges) to verify part dimensions.
- Conduct in-process inspections and make adjustments to meet high-quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, surface finish defects, and dimensional deviations.
- Read, interpret, and edit G-code and M-code programs to optimize machining processes.
- Upload, download, and modify CNC programs as needed.
- Continuously seek ways to improve cycle times, reduce scrap rates, and enhance production efficiency.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, identifying potential issues before they affect production.
- Report equipment malfunctions and assist with troubleshooting and repairs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2-4+ years of experience in CNC machining, required (vertical and horizontal, 3, 4, & 5 axis) (aerospace or precision machining preferred).
- Understand G&M codes, edit programs as necessary, required
- Proficiency with Haas and/or Okuma CNC machines, required
- Experience working with aerospace-grade materials such as titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys. (highly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CNC programming (review & edit). required
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools, required
- Basic computer skills
