Job Title: CNC Machinist III

Shift Options:

• 1st Shift – 5x8 Hour Shifts

• 2nd Shift – 4x10 Hour Shifts

Overtime as Needed

Position Summary:

We are recruiting a skilled CNC Machinist III for a growing advanced manufacturing company. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who can independently handle complex machining and CNC programming responsibilities with minimal supervision.

The CNC Machinist III will be responsible for advanced setup, programming, troubleshooting, and machining operations while also mentoring less experienced machinists and supporting continuous improvement efforts throughout the shop.

This is a high-level machining position requiring strong technical knowledge, advanced programming abilities, and experience working with tight-tolerance precision parts.

Key Responsibilities:

Machining & Programming

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and 3D files

• Program and modify CNC programs using Surfcam and/or Mastercam

• Setup and operate 3-axis, 5-axis, and/or lathe machines

• Select cutting tools, materials, fixtures, speeds, and feeds based on project requirements

• Design custom fixtures and work-holding solutions for complex parts

• Perform high-tolerance machining and precision part production

• Post programs to machines using network systems

• Troubleshoot machining issues and improve machining efficiencies

• Perform dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring tools

Production & Process Improvement

• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and project managers on production requirements

• Track labor and production activity within ERP systems

• Support quoting processes by assisting with machining scope, timelines, and costs

• Identify opportunities for tooling, programming, and process improvements

• Assist with machine maintenance, workstation organization, and shop cleanliness

• Maintain safe work practices and wear PPE as required

Leadership & Mentorship

• Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced machinists

• Share machining knowledge, setup strategies, and troubleshooting techniques

• Help promote a collaborative and team-focused work environment

Required Qualifications:

Candidates ***MUST ***have:

• ***Minimum ***5 years of CNC Machining and CNC Programming experience

• ***Advanced ***experience with 3-axis, 5-axis, and/or lathe machining

• Strong CNC programming experience using Surfcam and/or Mastercam

• Advanced understanding of G-code programming

• Experience with high-tolerance machining and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

• Ability to independently setup, program, and operate CNC equipment

• Strong blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation skills

• Experience working with multiple material types and complex part geometries

• Experience using ERP systems and manufacturing software

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required

• 2-Year Machining Degree preferred

• Degree in Machine Tool, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred

• Experience with SolidWorks and WinMax programming software preferred

• Prototyping or advanced manufacturing experience preferred

Physical & Work Environment:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

• Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout shifts

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and heavier weights with team assistance

• Exposure to machine noise, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and hot materials

• Fast-paced manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment

• PPE required and provided as necessary
