About the Opportunity

An established manufacturing company located in East Providence, Rhode Island is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist III to join its precision machining team. Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, this position is ideal for an experienced machinist who can hit the ground running and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced production environment.

Position Summary

The CNC Machinist III is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components. This role involves performing accurate quality checks, maintaining production efficiency, and ensuring adherence to all safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines with minimal supervision, making necessary offsets as required.
  • Monitor CNC milling and turning operations to ensure parts meet specifications and quality requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, inspection sheets, and work instructions.
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges) to verify part dimensions.
  • Perform and document in-process and final inspections.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and program issues effectively.
  • Maintain tooling and assist with tool repair as needed.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and run multiple machines when necessary.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 4 years of machining experience in a production environment
  • Strong CNC programming, setup, and operation skills
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred:

  • Trade school or apprenticeship in machining
  • Experience with both CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Welding experience
  • Ability to fabricate and repair tools

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery and occasional airborne particles.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, or climb frequently.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Requires good depth perception and attention to detail.
  • Noise level ranges from moderate to loud.
