Summary/Objective

Responsible for the manufacture and inspection of high precision products of varying complexity under general supervision. Responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed and must have the appropriate level of CNC machining experience required for the job as outlined below. 


Essential Functions

  • Adhere to Harmonic Drive Shop Employee Expectations as trained
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and machining centers 
  • Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. 
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using gages. 
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues to minimize downtime. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and company procedures. 
  • Train and provide technical assistance to less experienced machinists and machine operators. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required Competencies

  • Experience with Okuma, Mori Seiki, Haas, Mazak, or similar CNC equipment. 
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining practices and manufacturing processes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T. 
  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques. 
  • Understanding cutting tools, speeds and feeds, and work-holding. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and quality issues independently. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports. 


Physical Demands

  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read documents, drawings, instructions and to inspect machined parts. 
  • Stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend, squat, kneel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time hourly position which operates Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm.


Travel

Travel is not required for this role.  


Required Education and Experience

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or vocational school background is helpful
  • 5-10 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers. 
  • Experience setting up jobs independently from prints and process documentation. 
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance precision components.
