TekPro is partnered with a premier precision machining manufacturer serving the aerospace and defense industries on expanding its machining team following significant company growth and the award of major new OEM contracts.

These are growth-driven openings created by increasing demand and a growing backlog of complex precision work. The company is looking to add proven CNC machinists who can contribute in a true job shop environment where setups are frequent, parts are challenging, and machinists are expected to work with a high degree of independence.

We are seeking mid-level through highly advanced setup machinists. The right candidates will be comfortable taking ownership of their machines, completing setups independently, troubleshooting issues, and consistently producing complex, close-tolerance components.

Current Openings

CNC 5-Axis Setup Machinist

Set up and operate advanced 5-axis CNC machining centers producing complex, multi-surface aerospace and defense components. Candidates should be capable of independently completing setups, establishing tooling and work offsets, proving out jobs, making adjustments, and troubleshooting machining issues.

**CNC Mill 3-4 Axis Setup Machinist **

Set up and operate large-format 3-axis CNC machining centers used for larger, complex precision components. This position requires strong setup and fixturing ability, blueprint reading, and the ability to maintain dimensional accuracy across large workpieces and extended machining cycles.

CNC Lathe Setup/Operator

Set up and operate CNC turning equipment producing close-tolerance aerospace and defense components. Candidates should have experience with tooling, workholding, offsets, first-piece qualification, and making independent adjustments throughout the machining process.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently perform CNC setups from prints, programs, setup documentation, and work instructions.

• Complete regular changeovers and setups in a fast-moving precision job shop environment.

• Install and indicate fixtures, vises, jaws, workholding, and tooling.

• Establish tool and work offsets and make necessary adjustments at the machine.

• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications.

• Prove out jobs and identify potential tooling, workholding, dimensional, or process issues.

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.

• Monitor machining operations and adjust offsets, tooling, speeds, and feeds as necessary.

• Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, workholding, and machining problems with minimal supervision.

• Maintain the tight tolerances and quality standards required for aerospace and defense manufacturing.

• Work closely with programmers, quality personnel, manufacturing engineers, and other machinists to improve processes and resolve production issues.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC machining and setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment.

• Ability to perform setups independently rather than relying on dedicated setup personnel.

• Experience working in a job shop or high-mix machining environment with regular setup changes strongly preferred.

• Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T knowledge.

• Experience with precision measuring and inspection equipment.

• Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, offsets, speeds and feeds, and machining fundamentals.

• Ability to troubleshoot machining problems and make sound adjustments at the machine.

• Aerospace, defense, medical, or similarly demanding close-tolerance machining experience is highly desirable.

• Opportunities are available for experienced mid-level machinists through very high-level setup machinists, depending on technical background and equipment experience.
