We are currently looking for multiple CNC Machinists for our Monroe facility. Hiring across multiple shifts.

Basic Function of the Job:

Set up and operate multiple CNC machining centers per work instructions. Assist other CNC machinists in assigned area with day-to-day production. Set up and run new CNC programs and fixturing. Identify and recommend improvements to new and existing programs, documentation, fixturing and processes. Modify CNC programs if necessary to complete assigned tasks. Run production lots and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment. Communicate with previous and following shifts to optimize Quality, Safety and Efficiency.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sets up CNC machining centers
  • Sets up all tools required to run the job
  • Modifies tooling, programs and fixturing as needed
  • Must be able to know when to change tooling
  • Assists operators in assigned area
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
  • Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding
  • Perform inspection of machined product (including documentation of results)
  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve issues
  • Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Completes MRBs for any non-conforming parts
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 2- 5 years experience as CNC/EDM Machinist
  • Experience with precision measurement methods and systems
  • Experience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)


  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and process procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Math skills: Shop Math, Trigonometry, Geometry
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, and use basic hand held measuring tools
  • Able to listen, understand and follow instructions
  • Able to get along well with others
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Working Conditions

  • Monroe, CT manufacturing facility

Physical Requirements

  • Able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 50 pounds, or heavier, repeatedly
  • Walking/standing a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and II-VI Corporate EHS standards.
