Job Overview:

FastTrack Staffing as a client in the Traverse City area that is looking for skilled CNC Machinist to join their team!

Job Duties:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Program and edit CNC machines using G-code and machine controls as needed.
  • Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets.
  • Measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain tight tolerances while producing high-quality precision components.
  • Change tools, replace inserts, and perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Monitor machine performance and production output to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Complete production records, quality documentation, and inspection reports accurately.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve production issues.
  • Assist with process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and report equipment problems promptly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience setting up machines from start to finish.
  • Ability to hold close tolerances and produce quality parts with minimal supervision.
  • Basic CNC programming and editing experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
